BYD Auto Japan Co., Ltd.'s cumulative domestic sales reached 5,305 units in the three years from the establishment of the sales company on July 4, 2022, to the end of June 2025.
********** My argument ***************
200/20=10(MAX Monthly average)
400/80=20(MAX Monthly average)
BYD's sales network has reportedly grown to 80 stores nationwide.
Sales in Japan are not good; even with a generous estimate, last year's monthly average was around 200-400 units.
200/20 = 10 (MAX Monthly average)
400/80 = 20 (MAX Monthly average)
At worst, the average store sales would be as low as 10 units per month, and it's unlikely they could sustain a business with such numbers.
They seem to be focused on the light EV released this year, but with a realistic driving range of 180-250 km (even with a generous interpretation), it probably won't sell well.
Today I checked out used BYD vehicles on a used car search website (Car Sensor).
A total of 182 vehicles were displayed.
Apparently, 7,500 to 8,000 units were sold by the end of the previous fiscal year, but it seems that this many are already on the used car market.
What surprised me was that there were vehicles that appeared to be demo cars from dealerships with only a few thousand kilometers on them, and vehicles that were clearly new cars being sold as used cars.
Even with massive subsidies, it seems Chinese EVs still don't sell well in Japan.
