日産のEV「SAKURA 」の中古車価格が異常に安価だ/Used prices for the Nissan Sakura EV are extraordinarily low.

I looked into the used market prices for Nissan's "Sakura" kei EV.
The results revealed a surprising price point.
I wondered just how much the original owners received when selling them after a year of use.

If we assume a 30% profit margin for the used car dealer, a sale price of around  6,100 USD would actually be considered a decent outcome.
After all, the list price of the "SAKURA" is around 16,000 USD.
When you factor in options and registration fees, the total cost comes to 17,000–19,000 USD, meaning the resale value is abysmal—hovering around just 30%.
While government subsidies are available when purchasing an EV, there is a mandatory ownership period attached.
Specifically, if you part with the kei EV within three years, you are required to return the subsidy.
Despite the high initial cost and the need to repay part of the subsidy—combined with a low trade-in value—owners still chose to let them go.
In fact, there were as many as 96 used "SAKURA" units listed.
The primary reason for selling, I suspect, is the limited driving range.
With a range of only about 100–130 km when the air conditioning is running, it simply isn't practical for many users.
It must have been a real hassle to pull the cable out from the house, connect it, and charge the vehicle overnight every three days.
For reference, the Honda N-BOX has an impressive actual driving range of 400 to 550 km on a full 27-liter tank.

 カタログでは、22.40kWh(RACCO 200)と35.84kWh(RACCO 300 )の2種類のバッテリーを搭載しています。

 HONDA N-VAN e            : 1,140kg (WLTCモード 245km)

BYD is set to launch a kei-class EV called the "RACCO" at the end of this month.
Japanese automotive journalists are making a fuss, claiming that Japanese *kei* cars will be wiped out.
However, I can state with certainty that this simply won't happen.
The reason lies in the RACCO's specifications.

Its battery is small, resulting in a very limited driving range.
According to the catalog, it comes with two battery options: 22.40 kWh (RACCO 200) and 35.84 kWh (RACCO 300).

To understand what kind of range these capacities offer, we can look at valuable data provided by a current *kei* EV in the same category: Honda's N-VAN e.
Its battery capacity is 29.6 kWh.
Its WLTC-rated range is 245 km.
However, in real-world driving, the range is only about 150–210 km in city or suburban areas, and drops to roughly 100–150 km when using the air conditioner heavily or driving at high speeds on highways.

For EVs, the factors determining driving range are not the motor—where efficiency is already near its limit—but rather battery capacity and vehicle weight.
Honda N-VAN e: 1,140 kg (WLTC range: 245 km)
RACCO 200: 1,160 kg (WLTC range: 210 km)
RACCO 300 Premium: 1,230 kg (WLTC range: 320 km)

It is impossible for the "200" model—which has the same weight but a battery with only 75% of the N-VAN e's capacity—to achieve a range of 210 km.
I estimate the maximum range of the "RACCO 200" to be around 150 km, dropping to about 130 km in the worst-case scenario when using the air conditioner.

If you are considering buying the "RACCO," it would be best to wait a while until its reputation is firmly established.
For those who simply want to try driving a compact EV—even if just once—it would be wiser to buy a used Nissan Sakura, see if it fits your lifestyle, and then purchase the EV you really want.
