　黒人女性が主人公となる初のシリーズ作品で、ソネクア・マーティン=グリーンが主演を務めている。

　船長以外を主人公とする初のシリーズ作品でもあるが、シーズン3の途中からは船長となる。
　シーズン2までは、シリーズ第1作『宇宙大作戦』の約10年前（2256年～）に時代が設定されている。

　シーズン3からは、タイムトラベルで舞台が32世紀へと移る。
　シリーズの冠名にもなっている主役艦「USSディスカバリー」が作中で登場するのは第3話から。

This is the first series in the franchise to feature a Black woman as the protagonist, with Sonequa Martin-Green in the lead role.

It is also the first series not to center on a starship captain from the outset, though the protagonist assumes the role of captain midway through the third season.

The story is set approximately ten years prior to the original *Star Trek* series (beginning in 2256) for the first two seasons.

From the third season onwards, the setting shifts to the 32nd century via time travel.

The titular starship, the USS *Discovery*, does not appear in the series until the third episode.

　我が家の奥様は、ＳＦ映画は余り見たいと思わない様です。

　なので私は夜中に少しづつ見ています。

　これまで見た感想と言うと、過去のスター・トレックより話がスローに進んでいる気がします。

　超遠距離ワープを可能にすると言う、胞子性移動ドライブ（菌糸ネットワーク航法）も、なんだか判らない・・。

　その技術は「巨大な宇宙ゴミムシ」が技術の鍵となるそうで、当に荒唐無稽です。

　そしてこの時代では、姿が見えないクリンゴン船には、全く対抗できない宇宙艦隊なのです。　

　途中まで、主人公は船長じゃない様です。

　宇宙船はシリーズ3に 未来へタイムトラベルして、「プログラマブル・マター技術」を取り入れた「ディスカバリー-A」に進化するらしい。

　私なりのこのシリーズの評価は、もう少し先の話まで鑑賞してからにしたいと思います。

My wife doesn't seem very interested in watching sci-fi movies.

As a result, I’ve been watching it little by little late at night.

So far, the story seems to unfold at a more leisurely pace compared to previous *Star Trek* series.

I also find the mechanics of the "Spore Drive" (mycelial network navigation)—which enables ultra-long-range warp travel—a bit baffling.

Apparently, a "giant tardigrade" that was discovered holds the key to this technology, but the whole concept strikes me as utterly far-fetched.

Furthermore, from what I’ve seen so far, Starfleet seems completely unable to counter the Klingon ships equipped with stealth technology.

It appears that in Season 3, the ship travels into the future and evolves into the "Discovery-A," incorporating "programmable matter" technology.

I’d like to watch a bit more before making a final judgment on the series.
