米軍嘉手納基地は中国ＢＹＤ車の乗り入れを禁止した／U.S. military base Kadena has banned the entry of Chinese BYD vehicles.

　米側はBYD車に搭載されている車載カメラやセンサーが、基‌地内⁠の安全保障に関わる機密情報を収集し、中国本土に送信される恐れがあることを懸念している。

　乗り入れ禁止は２６日からで、基地関係者や請負業​者、民間企業​が使用す⁠る車両のほか、タクシーも対象となる。

The U.S. side is concerned that the onboard cameras and sensors in BYD vehicles could collect sensitive, security-related information within the bases and transmit it to mainland China.

The ban on entry, which takes effect on the 26th, applies to vehicles used by base personnel, contractors, and private companies, as well as taxis.

　一般の人達には判らないと思いますが、現代の自動車の動きは全てOSでコントロールされています。

　「CAN SYSTEM」と呼ばれている自動車を動かすOSみたいなソフトウエアです。

　「CAN SYSTEM」は、エンジンやミッション等は高速通信Nで制御しています。

　アクセルの開閉操作のデータも、全て数値化されて高速度通信でエンジンのコンピューターに送られ、スロットルバルブや燃料噴射量を制御されているのです。

　ミッションの動作も同様に制御されています。

　そして最近の車両には「運転支援システム」が搭載されています。

　ハンドル操作も同様に、コンピューターで制御されているのです。

　当然ながら車体側も同様で、例えばドアのロックや窓の上下動も、集中コントローラーを「CAN」で制御する構造です。

　つまり、現代の車両は全て「CAN SYSTEM」により動いているのです。

　もしこれのシステムが誰かに乗っ取られてしまえば、外部から簡単に制御されてしまいます。

　或いは、製造時に既に外部からコントロールが可能なように造られているとしたら。簡単に事故を誘発させたり、火災発生時にドアや窓が開かなくすることも可能です。

　最近はEVに乗っている人も居ますが、例えばバッテリーを暴走させるプログラムが仕込まれていたらどうでしょう。

　簡単に人を殺し、焼き尽くすことも可能かもしれません。

　そう考えると、怖くて中国製のEVには乗れないのです。

The CAN system utilizes high-speed communication to control various components, such as the engine and the transmission.

For instance, the extent to which the accelerator pedal is pressed is converted into a digital value and transmitted at high speed to the engine's computer, which then adjusts the throttle valve opening and the amount of fuel injected.

The operation of the transmission is managed through a similar mechanism.

Furthermore, modern vehicles are equipped with "driver-assistance systems," meaning even steering maneuvers are managed by a computer.

Other functions—such as door locks and the operation of power windows—are also managed by a central control unit connected to the CAN system.

In short, the entire operation of a modern automobile depends on the CAN system.

If this system were to be hijacked, the vehicle could easily be controlled from the outside.

Alternatively, what if the vehicle were designed from the manufacturing stage to allow for external control?.

 It would be simple to induce an accident, or even prevent doors and windows from opening during a fire.

Consider the growing prevalence of electric vehicles (EVs): what if they contained software designed to cause the battery to malfunction or go out of control?

It would be easy to trigger an accident or cause a vehicle fire.

Given these risks, the prospect is truly terrifying—I, for one, would never want to drive an electric vehicle (EV) manufactured in China.
